What this Christian parenting stuff is all about

Christian parenting comes in many flavors. After all we all are different persons with different needs. There are a few constants though that you will see, or better said should see in every Christian family. This article focuses on these.

First of all Christian parenting is about giving your child the proper education. You probably agree that such an education must be one that instills the spirit of integrity and high morals. You will also probably agree that such things are impossible without a strong belief in God. Sounds nice now doesn't it? Well the theory is simple, it is the practice that kills.

Christian parenting of course implies the necessity of implementing the Christian values in to the young mind. When should you start and how you should do it? The answers vary a lot. There are some parents that think that "the earlier the better" and others that think that only when the children reach a certain age, they should be exposed to the Christian values. If you ask me I'll tell you that education must tale into account the child's age. A gradual learning method is perhaps the best. You must let your children live their childhood without intensive Bible studies or things like this, but at the same time you must teach them what is right and wrong, teach them to pray and discretely guide them towards the Bible. When they will feel ready they will start the studies themselves.

In a world which seems to lose its faith, Christian parenting is disregarded in certain circles. What you must remember is that the final goal is to guide your child to grow into a reliable, honest and accomplished man or woman. What is good for you might not necessarily be good for your child. Learn to understand their needs, their gifts if you wish and learn them how to use these gifts to become a worthy member of the Christian community.

Children will always play, will always laugh and will always put embarrassing questions. Play with them , laugh with them and answer those questions truthfully and with tact. They are God's gift to you, prize them and love them.

Christian parenting is more about Christian family than Christian church. Treat your child like the child that he is and understand that this period is both the happiest of his or hers life and the most vulnerable. Protect them, love them and teach them how to protect themselves and love in return. Then you will indeed be an accomplished parent.
